Dal (Lentil Stew)

Cooking time: 15 mins

Serves: 3

Ingredients

  1. Dal (Masoor) : 150 gms
  2. Onion: 1 big (chop)
  3. Tomato: 1 big (chop)
  4. Green Chlli: 1
  5. Chopped garlic : 7 clove (optional)
  6. Cumin seeds: 0.5 tsp
  7. Oil: 2 tbsp
  8. Salt: to taste
  9. Turmeric: 1 tsp
  10. Coriander Powder: 2 tsp
  11. Kasuri Methi: 1tbsp (optional)

Procedure

  1. Soak dal for 30 mins.
  2. Heat the oil in a cooker.
  3. Add Cumin seed and chopped garlic. Wait for it to cook.
  4. Add chopped onion and fry till it becomes golden
  5. Add dry spices and cook for a very short time
    • Chili powder
    • Coriander powder
    • Turmeric
  6. Add tomatoes and fry till it becomes soft.
  7. Add the soaked dal and fry for 2 mins.
  8. Add water in 1:4 ratio.
  9. Close the cooker and cook for 15 mins.
  10. Add salt to taste and kasuri methi to garnish.
