Thakkali Chaar (Tomato Curry)

Cooking time: 30 mins

Serves: 6

Ingredients

  1. Toor / Masoor Dal: 4 tbsp
  2. Tomato : 3 big
  3. Onion : 1 big
  4. Ounty powder: 1 tsp
  5. Curry leaves: 10
  6. Haldi: 0.25 tsp
  7. Hing: 1 pinch
  8. Mustard: 0.5 tsp
  9. Urad dal: 0.5 tsp
  10. Red chili: 1 or 2
  11. Oil: 2 tbsp

Procedure

  1. In a cooker heat oil.
  2. Make a tadka using :
    • Mustard: 0.5 tsp
    • Urad dal: 0.5 tsp
    • Haldi: 0.25 tsp
    • Hing: 1 pinch
    • Curry leaves: 10
  3. Fry Red chili
  4. Fry Onion till it turns glassy
  5. Add Tomato and fry till it becomes mushy
  6. Add Ounty powder and cook 5 mins
  7. Add dal and water and cook for 3 whistles
