Chicken Curry (Assamese)

Ingredients

  1. Chicken: 600 gms
  2. Dry Chilli: 4
  3. Cumin seeds: 1 tsp
  4. Bay Leaf: 1 med size
  5. Garlic: 6
  6. Ginger: 1 inch (Also can use ginger garlic paste)
  7. Onion: 1 large
  8. Coriander Powder: 2 tsp
  9. Potato: 3/4 (big dice cut)
  10. Garam Masala: 0.5 tsp
  11. Turmeric: 0.5 tsp
  12. Oil: 2 tbsp
  13. Salt: to taste

Procedure

  1. Add the following with little water into a mixer grinder to make a paste
    • Dry Chilli: 4
    • Cumin seeds: 1 tsp
    • Bay Leaf: 1 med size
    • Garlic: 6
    • Ginger: 1 in (Also can use ginger garlic paste)
  2. Heal oil and fry the cut onions in a pressure cooker till it becomes glassy.
  3. Add turmeric powder and cook for a short while.
  4. Add the paste and coriander powder.
  5. Fry the chicken and cut potato.
  6. Add salt to taste and add water to make the gravy.
  7. Pressure cook it for 4 whistles.
  8. Open and add masala when the curry is hot.
